Japanese Grilled Chicken Japanese Style Chicken Skewers: Grilled Yakitori
Barbecue season is in full swing and we’re looking for new ideas. With the Japanese Yakitori Chicken Skewers you are very much on trend.
Ingredients for 12 skewers:
700 g of chicken breast
3 spoons of soy sauce
1 spoon of honey
1 tablespoon mirin
1 tablespoon miso paste
1 tablespoon sake
2 cloves of garlic
1 thumb-sized piece of ginger
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
sesame for garnish
80 minutes (including 60 minutes for marinating)
And this is how it is done:
First, cut the chicken fillet into cubes of about 2 cm and put it in a bowl.
Peel the garlic and chop into small pieces. Also peel the ginger and rub it directly on the meat.
Mix the remaining ingredients in a bowl to form a sauce and pour over the chicken. Massage the marinade into the meat. Leave the meat in the refrigerator for at least 60 minutes.
Before grilling, soak wooden skewers in water for at least 15 minutes to prevent burning. Then distribute the meat on 10-12 skewers.
Grill the skewers on the hot grill for a total of 10 minutes, turning frequently, until the chicken is cooked through. Garnish with a little sesame and serve.

We Germans love to grill. Chicken is especially suitable for hot and quick cooking because it is lean and does not take much time to serve. Whether it’s our jakitoris or Turkish chicken skewers in yogurt marinade, everyone loves grilled chicken. If there’s also steak skewers with zucchini, you’re in barbecue heaven.
