  1. Wash the tomatoes under running water, cut out the core, cut them in half and cut them into large cubes. Peel the clove of garlic and onion and chop finely.

  2. Heat the olive oil in a pan and sauté the garlic and onion until translucent. Then add the tomato paste and fry lightly. Add the diced tomatoes and simmer for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, remove all the herbs from the stems and finely chop them. When the tomato sauce has thickened a little, add the herbs and season with paprika powder, salt, pepper and sugar.

  3. Now heat the oven to 200 degrees (top/low heat). Cut the bagels in half crosswise and add the tomato sauce. Then we spread the cheese on top. Sprinkle the ground beef in a small bowl with salt and pepper, then crumble it over the bagels.

  4. Bake until the cheese is golden brown and the mince is nicely browned, about 12 to 15 minutes. Then garnish with some fresh basil and serve.
