Here’s how it works: Peel the potatoes, wash off any dirt, and cook in a large pot of heavily salted water. You can easily check if they have passed with the knife test: stick a knife into one of the bulbs – if it slides off the blade on its own, it has passed. For this casserole, however, the potatoes are generally welcome to be cooked a little longer, after all, they need to be mashed.

Clean and finely chop the soup greens and onions. Then heat some olive oil in a pan and fry the onions in it. Then add the ground meat and fry until crumbly and cooked. Add the soup vegetables and fry a little. Then mix in the tomato paste and clean everything with the broth. Season with plenty of salt and pepper

Drain the potatoes, return to the pot and mash with a potato masher. Add a little milk until the mashed potatoes are not too hard, but not too soft either. Adjust according to taste with salt, pepper and a little nutmeg. Then heat the oven to 180 degrees. Pour the minced meat mixture into a pan, place the drained peas and carrots on top and cover everything with mashed potatoes. Sprinkle with cheese and bake in the oven until the cheese turns golden brown. Enjoy your meal!
