Vegan Chocolate Rolls: A simple recipe for a sweet breakfast

Vegan chocolate rolls sweeten your breakfast

Be brave: Our vegan chocolate rolls are not heavy and are sure to be enjoyed by everyone at the table.

Bake smaller batches? But only when it comes to these delicious and fluffy pastries. Even the breakfast mushrooms come running to the breakfast table.

Ingredients for 10 pieces:

  • 1 packet of dry yeast
  • 50 grams of sugar
  • 120 ml plant-based milk (lukewarm, plus more for washing)
  • 500 g spelled flour
  • 1 spoon of salt
  • 50 g vegetable butter
  • 150 g of plant-based yogurt
  • 80 g chocolate (vegan)
  • 1/2 tablespoon quince or apricot jam

Preparation time:

  • 20 minutes (plus 90 minutes rest and 25 minutes baking time)

And this is how it is done:


  1. In the first step, mix the yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar in the lukewarm milk. Set aside for a few minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, mix the flour, remaining sugar and salt. Make a well and pour the yeast-milk mixture. Add the margarine to the flakes and yogurt and mix the ingredients into a soft dough. Boil well for at least 5-10 minutes. Then cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 1 hour, allowing it to double in size.
  3. After the rest time, pour the chocolate drops into the dough and then divide the dough into 10 equal parts. Form each one into a bun and place the formed buns on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Just before the end of the resting time, heat the oven to 160 degrees. Heat the jam slightly in a saucepan or in the microwave and stir in 2 tablespoons of plant-based milk. Spread it on the rolls and then put them in the oven for 25 minutes.
